Job Title: Assistant Chief Engineer
Job Description: The Clear Channel Radio Birmingham/Tuscaloosa/Gadsden Markets are now interviewing candidates for an Assistant Chief Engineer. We are searching for an organized self-starter who is able to stock his company provided F-150 pickup truck with all the necessary tools and parts to maintain 3 studio sites and 15 radio signals from 10 tower sites spread over 160 miles of beautiful central Alabama. The position requires a good working knowledge of all the major brands of high power broadcast transmitters, HD radio, SCADA gear and studio transmitter links. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of PC network protocols, telnet, ftp, serial links and web interfaces as they are used extensively to monitor our far flung transmitter sites. You must be able to diagnose problems and make simple repairs to air conditioners, emergency generators and uninterruptable power supplies. Electrical skills along with a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code is a plus. The amount of sleep you get at night will be tied to your ability to keep our air conditioned remote facilities all humming along as smoothly and cleanly as possible. You won’t need to be a genius with NexGen but you will need to know enough to configure new satellite sources on occasion. Scheduling and planning your route for efficiency is important. Some heavy lifting, much ladder climbing and many instances of resourceful thinking will be required on multiple occasions. Don’t expect to be home on time for supper. It’s just not that kind of job. Still interested? Please email your resume and cover letter to: windyhobbs@clearchannel.com or fax to 205-439-8390.
